First PATH Workshop Expands Healing Skills

PATH held the first clinical workshop in Fall 2012 with clinical staff from all ten PATH partner centers. The workshop focused on mental health services to torture survivors. The major themes included Healing Pathways, Clinical Assessment, Treatment Planning, Professional Ethics, Self-care for Providers, and Mindfulness as a resource for torture survivor care and self-care.

What was most exciting was the use of a sophisticated professional system of interpreters and technology so everyone could engage in English, French, Bosnian, Moldovan and Tamil. The enthusiasm of everyone participating in the workshop overflowed from workshop sessions to informal gatherings. This group of clinical staff will have the opportunity to maintain communication and support over the course of the PATH project and will meet again in three upcoming clinical workshops.
