Using Stories to Break Silence
CVT Jordan used an innovative storytelling approach to counseling with two groups of fathers and their teenage children, most of them boys. The process of developing their stories helped them talk about their pain and encouraged participation. Communication between the fathers and their children also improved and they were accurately able to identify placements of silence and miscommunication in each other’s stories.
