CVT works with 16 treatment centers throughout the world to expand their capacity to provide high-quality services to torture survivors. The program, the International Capacity-Building Project, is funded by a four-year grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The goals of the program are to make each center more stable organizationally and financially; to expand the centers’ clinical capacity; and to help them develop effective advocacy campaigns, including community outreach and public education.

The participating treatment centers are located in Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Kosovo, Namibia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Romania, Rwanda, South Africa and Uganda.

Amidst Bangladesh’s human rights struggle, exists an organization providing services to its people. CRTS, which started in 1996, has a view of achieving healing to all torture victims. CRTS is able to meet their clients’ needs by providing medical treatment, psychotherapy, counseling and physiotherapy.

ACET, working out of Bulgaria, provides comprehensive services to survivors of torture and their family members. In 2001, ACET expanded its reach by launching a training program for police officers in the area of human rights and torture prevention. The efforts made at ACET, through treatment and community relations, is helping survivors to regain their lives and restore their sense of belonging to society.

RCVTE, founded in 1993, works to rehabilitate torture survivors through the creation of services and advocacy on the eradication of all forms of torture. Located in Ethiopia, RCVTE is the only rehabilitation center for victims of torture, therefore they conduct workshops and training programs for health professions on the consequences of torture and the treatment of victims.

This center, based out of India, provides treatment and rehabilitative services to victims of torture and violence. The centers main activity is to organize training sessions, in efforts to enhance networking capability between professionals.

Founded in 1995, IMLU’s initial goal was to create awareness, after succeeding in that, they have moved on to providing direct care to torture survivors. IMLU is currently in the midst of providing training to police and prison officers, medical and law students, magistrates and judges. Through this training, professionals become better equipped to deal with human rights violations.

Since 1999, Kosovo has gone through a period of extensive transition. During this time, KRCT has assumed the position as the leading agent for the prevention of torture and rehabilitation of torture victims. KRCT is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization with the mission to provide treatment and rehabilitation for Kosovar torture and trauma victims, to build capacities of KRCT management and professional staff, as well as the different public sectors working in Kosova and to promote the respect of human rights for all Kosova ethnicities and to influence the prevention and eradication of torture.

Founded in 1996, PEACE provides counseling and psychotherapy to ex-detainees and ex-combatants on both sides of the struggle for Namibia's liberation and other victims of violence. PEACE seeks to provide access to counseling and therapy, increase public awareness regarding trauma, and build capacity of front-line workers (police officers, social workers, and teachers) through training in order to contribute to a more tolerant society and Namibian development.

Sach-Struggle for change, a non-government organization in Pakistan, has a vision of a torture free society, where human beings, especially the marginalized, can live with dignity. TRC is a Palestinian non-governmental, non-profit institution providing psychosocial services to survivors of torture and other forms of politically-motivated violence. TRC is the first and only center of its kind in the West Bank that provides services to torture survivors, their families, and their communities. The center also works to raise awareness and understanding about mental health and human rights issues.

CAPS, located in Peru, works to contribute to the psychosocial recuperation of people affected by political and social violence. ICAR foundation was founded in 1992, and since then it has been the only organization in Romania that provides treatment for torture survivors. ICAR foundation provides medical, psychological, legal and social rehabilitation services to torture survivors. FACT-Rwanda fights against torture and organized violence by recognizing and treating victims of torture and organized crime. In order to achieve this goal, services are provided through medical care, psychosocial care and legal services. FACT-Rwanda provides a unique treatment plan for each survivor, which lasts until the patient is no longer in need.

The trauma center, located in South Africa, works to relieve the traumatic stress of those affected by violence. The center provides mental health services to individuals, groups, families, communities and institutions that have experienced, or are affected by violence and human rights violations.
