MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL/TRAINER - THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO |

This position is located in the Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Primary Responsibilities:
Qualifications: Advanced degree in Psychology or Counseling. Masters degree or equivalent required. Fluency in French or Swahili. Extensive experience providing psychotherapy to individuals and groups. Understanding of and experience implementing culturally appropriate mental health interventions, including individual, group and community-based approaches for people who have suffered torture and trauma. Experience with gender-based violence highly desirable. Understanding of and experience developing curriculum and providing training for mental health counselors using adult experiential learning activities and training of trainers, and providing training on sensitization on the effects of trauma and war. Experience working in developing countries. (Experience working in Africa preferred.) Experience supervising mental health counselors. Skilled at carrying out needs assessment and program evaluations. Flexibility and adaptability to work in unpredictable, politically unstable, isolated environment, lacking in amenities. Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and needs. Skilled at working as a member of a team.
