Every year, 300 volunteers donate their time to CVT. Some spend an hour or two on a community service project, others make a weekly commitment that becomes an important part of their own lives. Either way, we couldn’t do it without you.
Most importantly, our volunteers form the basis of a healing community – one where torture survivors feel welcomed and protected. Torture survivors know that people in our community care about their healing process enough to become personally involved.
Whatever your talents, you can be part of an effort that makes hope and healing possible.
To become a volunteer, please complete the CVT Volunteer Application and return it to Beth Wickum, director of volunteer services.
Return to: Beth Wickum, Director of Volunteer Services Center for Victims of Torture 717 East River Road Minneapolis, MN 55455 Fax: 612.436.2600
The director of volunteer services will contact you to arrange an interview. We work hard to place volunteers in positions that best suit their talents and time commitments. Volunteering at CVT is a serious commitment and we want that experience to be as rewarding as possible.
You will need Adobe Acrobat on your computer to open the application file.
Graphic Design Volunteers Needed
The New Tactics in Human Rights Project with the Center for Victims of Torture needs a volunteer graphic designer to lay out in-depth case studies called “tactical notebooks.” An InDesign CS2 template is available. The estimated time commitment is 8-12 hours per notebook. Work can be done on-site at CVT or at the volunteer’s home or office. An example of a notebook is here.
Contact Beth Wickum, CVT Volunteer Coordinator, for more information (contact information above).
