Information on Iraqi Special Immigrant Visas

In 2008 through an additional Technical Assistance initiative funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, CVT’s National Capacity Building Project will be partnering with ACCESS Center for Torture Survivors in Dearborn, MI, to provide specialized technical assistance to programs serving Iraqi torture survivors. The two objectives for this initiative are:

  1. To provide programs for torture survivors with the available knowledge in serving Iraqi torture survivors and any relevant history and circumstances affecting the newer arrivals.

  2. To provide a forum for torture treatment programs to discuss issues and problem-solve related to serving this newly arriving group with expected high prevalence of torture.

Through the partnership with ACCESS’ Center for Torture Survivors,, who currently see primarily Iraqi clients, NCB will host six monthly webinars. Topics will be determined through needs assessment of programs and relevant content will be developed by those with expertise with this population. A News Digest and other useful resources will be highlighted here in the Resource Center and via the PTSTalk listserv during the year.
