Secondary traumatization refers to the effects of working with people who have experienced trauma and being exposed to the traumatic stories they share. It is called “secondary” traumatization because the trauma is experienced indirectly, through the process of being a witness to another person’s story. How does one identify symptoms of secondary traumatization? How can the effects be reduced?
