Relevant Services:       Many companies provide nationwide 24-hour/7 day a week interpreter service via phone for approximately over 100 languages. Check for pricing and quality before establishing an account. While not preferred, phone interpreting may be the only or best option in some cases.
 
Fees:       Provider charged on a per-minute basis for interpreter service, usually $1.50 to $4.50 a minute, depending on the language, time of day, etc.
 
Hours:       24-hours, 7 days/week
 
Intake Procedure:       When a patient who doesn't speak English comes in, the provider dials the service's toll-free number and punches in an ID code or credit card number, and requests an interpreter for the patient's language. Provider is connected to an interpreter fluent in that language. Some services provide interpreters who specialize in medical interpretation. Physician and patient use a speaker phone or a phone with a dual handset to communicate with the interpreter.
