Intake Procedure:

When a patient who doesn't speak English comes in, the provider dials the service's toll-free number and punches in an ID code or credit card number, and requests an interpreter for the patient's language.
Provider is connected to an interpreter fluent in that language. Some services provide interpreters who specialize in medical interpretation.
Physician and patient use a speaker phone or a phone with a dual handset to communicate with the interpreter.
