Elim Transitional Housing Inc.

Offers longer term transitional housing in the Columbia Heights area. The shared housing is for single women or women with children. Women must be homeless or about to be homeless, must be working on their goals and be able to live peacefully with others in a shared space.

93 room facility for single adults only- no children. This is a first come, first serve basis. There is a six month limit and the person must either have a full time job upon entering or get a full time job within 30 days of moving in.

Administers numerous other housing programs that provide rent subsidies and home improvement loans for low-income individuals and families. Services to anyone needing HIV/AIDS support, information, or services in Minnesota. Services include an AIDSLine Program which provides general information on HIV/AIDS, home helpers, legal information and referral, transitional housing, and transportation for medically related trips.

Our Saviour's Housing

Focuses on the newly homeless- 90% of the beds are reserved for this population and they are on a first come, first serve basis. 34 beds for men, 6 beds for women, no children accepted. A person can stay 30 days, but extensions are possible.

Project for Pride in Living (PPL)

Helping low income people in Minneapolis and St. Paul with affordable housing and self-sufficiency. Has low-income apartments for rent, helps with small home repair jobs, and provides job training.

Simpson Housing Services Inc.

Offers several different housing programs. Transitional housing is for families (US citizens only). There are three shelters available: the men and women’s night shelter & a day shelter for adults who work the night shift.

Has several properties available for low income families and the elderly. Clients must come in and apply for the apartments. There would be a monthly rental charge depending on the person’s income.

Union Gospel Mission

Christian organization that runs two separate programs of free or affordable shelter: the Men’s Hotel and Naomi Transitional Shelter for women and children. Both charge low rates. Free dental and medical clinic on site at the Men's Hotel site.
