In Commemoration of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, CVT invites you to attend its 2014 Eclipse Award presentation and an expert briefing on Fighting Impunity: Combating Torture & Human Trafficking. CVT will present its annual Eclipse Award to Professor David Crane in recognition of his extraordinary efforts in fighting impunity for torture.

10:00 – 10:30AM:  Presentation of Eclipse Award and Keynote Address by David M. Crane
The 2014 Eclipse Award will be presented to David M. Crane.  Mr. Crane is a Professor at Syracuse University College of Law, the founding Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, founder of the Syrian Accountability Project, and a co-author of the Chautauqua Blueprint.

Following the Eclipse Award presentation, a group of distinguished experts will focus broadly on principles to fighting impunity—the right to know, the right to justice, the right to reparation, and guarantees of non-recurrence – challenges to implementing these principles in the areas of combating torture, human trafficking, and other gross violations of human rights; and ways to move forward.
