Cultures and immigration beat: Film gives voice to torture survivors
A special screening of the film, "Beneath the Blindfold," will take place in the Twin Cities in conjunction with International Human Rights Day. The screening is cosponsored by The Advocates for Human Rights, The Center for Victims of Torture, The Human Rights Program at the University of Minnesota, the Midwest Coalition for Human Rights, and the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center.

CVT’s Curt Goering appeared on BelAhdan TV to discuss torture treatment and host Ahmed Tharwat’s recent trip to Egypt. Ahmed interviewed two brave, young women forced to undergo “virginity tests” by the Egyptian military. The “tests” are forms of humiliation intended to strip victims of identity, shame them and make them feel threatened.
