Messages of Hope
To show support for survivors of torture on June 26, people sent us messages of hope, comfort or support. We shared these with survivors through our projects in Jordan, Kenya, Ethiopia and St. Paul.
I wanted inform the torture survivors that all is not lost because you have the soul which no perpetrator can remove unless the Creator wishes so but you have the soul in you now. Just focus on the future and have some positive thoughts which can help you rebuild your life and can enhance your relationship with others.
To our dear sisters & brothers. You are deeply loved and respected for your perseverance, hope and strength. You have taught us so much.
You are not alone and there are many people, within CVT and outside of CVT, who support you.
While we may not be with you in person, know that our hopes for healing and a brighter future are with you.
Suffering, like life, has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Keep working toward that end, toward the beginning of joy.
The world is ready for peace. We all make it every day.
It makes my day when I see you smile again.
You hold the ability to put this in the past. Only you can do it. It will not be easy, and it will not happen overnight, but sought after in diligence and unwavering consistency, you will one day feel renewed and ready to help others who have suffered the same as yourself. God bless you. Never give up. Always remember, the worst is behind you. Live for today, every day.
I wish for you - every single one of you - the realization that the power some had over you is no longer. You survived. In that realization reside knowledge, empowerment, freedom, healing and hope for tomorrow.
I wish for you the strength of hope, the courage of your ancestors, and the solace of healing. You have my profound respect
As much as we can be, we are with you in your lives. Stay strong and flexible and know you and those you love are cared for.
You are in our thoughts and hearts-we remember you. Have hope and stay strong.
I am thinking of you and grateful I can send this message to you. Despite all you have endured in punishment and torture there are many people like me around the world who despise this inhumane treatment of anyone. Just know I am among the group of people everywhere who wish for you full healing and a new sense of hope that your life can and will be better.
May your life be filled with peace and strength and love!
Do not despair. You are remembered by thousands and loved for your sacrifices. Rebuild yourself with this knowledge and grow into the person that you were meant to be.
I wish you will have a hopeful, peaceful life now and in the future.
I just wanted to tell you that I so admire all the hard work you are doing to heal. Healing takes a lot of courage and a lot of dedication, but it's definitely worth the effort. It is so great that you have the support of The Center for Victims of Torture. Hopefully, one day we humans all around the world will learn to treat each other with respect and understanding. After all, we have so much in common.
The past sometimes overwhelms the present, but you are not alone in your suffering. Working with others who know of your pain can help turn the page of your life and see past trauma as a part, but a small part, of a life that can still be wonderful. We hope and pray for your happiness.
You are amazing, inspiring, strong, resourceful.

My hope and wish for all of you is that you may heal in a way that is right for you and that you may know that there are so many people who are ready to support and assist you in many ways if and when you are ready. The fact that you are moving forward and are seeking to honor yourself in the best way you see fit is an inspiration to us.
My greatest hope and prayer for all survivors of torture is for them to know there is still mercy and empathy in the world. It seems at times you have been forgotten, but there are those of us who will continue to pray and act on your behalf until our last breath. It is our greatest honor to serve you.
I am in awe at the strength you possess to carry on as a survivor of torture. You are truly an inspiration, and a testament to the capacity of the human heart to heal, love and forgive. I pray for you daily.
Smile after smile, step after step, may you colour your days back to life and recover from the darkness, rebuild yourself and your faith in humanity.
Today is UN Day in support of Torture Survivors and I join the many who say Torture is degrading, dehumanizing and disempowering and we need to have one voice ' STOP TORTURE'.
