Public Education and Advocacy Against Torture

About the Organization:  CVT exists to heal the wounds of torture on individuals, their families, and communities and to stop its practice.  The Center works locally, nationally and internationally providing care and rehabilitative services directly to torture survivors; training health, education and human service professionals; conducting research on the effects of torture and effective treatment methods; and advocating for public policy initiatives in Minnesota, the United States and worldwide.  With the recent change in Administration, work around human rights and torture has become increasingly prominent and important. There are new opportunities to further our work against torture and to help torture victims worldwide. As an Intern you will work closely with staff, learn about issue organizing, lobbying, messaging, and be exposed to the inner workings of Congress and the national human rights community. Interning with CVT will give you a hands on experience in working around advocacy in human rights and humanitarian issues.
