ACTION ALERT | Center for Victims of Torture

Say NO to racist and despicable language

On January 11, President Trump reportedly used extremely derogatory language disparaging Haiti, El Salvador and countries in Africa. His use of profanity to dishonor the people of these countries is consistent with the White House’s deeply anti-immigrant policy agenda and the hateful rhetoric that has accompanied it. The President’s words were racist and demeaning.

The President insults the good people of these nations, and he insults CVT.

Two-thirds of CVT staff live and work in Africa and the Middle East. Each day, CVT clinicians, administrators, support staff and professionals in every capacity bring their best and tireless efforts to extend healing and hope to refugees and asylum seekers who have fled torture and war atrocities. CVT cared for well over 4,000 survivors last year and nearly 18,000 family members. We work in the locations where the need is most dire, in the countries that are among the global top 10 in accepting and hosting the greatest numbers of refugees, including Uganda, Ethiopia, Jordan and Kenya.

The President’s words are unacceptable. Contact your Senators and Representatives now and demand that they repudiate them.
