Center for Victims of Torture to Co-Sponsor and Speak at April 25 #NoMuslimBanEver Rally Outside Supreme Court
Rally coincides with SCOTUS oral arguments on ‘Muslim Ban 3.0’
WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, April 25, as the Supreme Court hears oral arguments in the case challenging President Trump’s ‘Muslim Ban 3.0,’ the Center for Victims of TortureTM (CVT) will join a coalition of national and local civil and human rights groups and American Muslim organizations for a #NoMuslimBanEver rally outside the Supreme Court.
CVT Senior Policy Counsel Yasmine Taeb will join speakers from other human rights and faith organizations tomorrow, in addition to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT), Rep. Andre Carson (IN), Rep. Judy Chu (CA), Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA), Sen. Mazie Hirono (HI) and Gold Star father Khizr Khan.
“The President’s Muslim ban grossly violates our core beliefs and runs counter to American values. The latest iteration of the administration’s travel ban – Muslim Ban 3.0 – remains a thinly-veiled version of the Muslim ban President Trump proposed during his campaign and implemented at the beginning of his administration. This proclamation went even further by sustaining this dangerous, harmful and discriminatory policy indefinitely.
“As the justices are hearing oral arguments challenging the administration’s travel ban, we’re joining dozens of organizations, advocates and Members of Congress on the steps of the Supreme Court to proclaim in one voice that we will continue to fight and oppose this discriminatory, ineffective and immoral policy,” said Yasmine Taeb.
The April 25 event will show the Court, the American public and the rest of the world that the Muslim community, in alliance with many others under attack by this administration, is mobilizing against the administration’s anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant and anti-refugee agenda.
