Diego Piña Lopez

Diego Piña Lopez is the program director for Casa Alitas Program for asylum seekers. During his tenure as the program manager, Casa Alitas served over 90,000 people following their release from detention. The program provides resources for families to connect with their sponsors in the United States. Diego is also a consultant for Catholic Charities USA to help them improve their network of border shelter services for asylum seekers. In addition, he is a third-year Ph.D. student at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at University of Arizona. He has a master’s degree in social work and public administrations from Arizona State University. He hopes to explore health disparities affecting asylum seekers in the United States and use his Ph.D. to contribute to a national health resource network for recent immigrants.
