Help Support The 222
The Center for Victims of Torture is helping rebuild the lives of survivors, families and communities after torture and trauma. We are proud to be providing assistance to a group calling themselves "The 222" - 222 former political prisoners recently arrived in the US to start new lives after long periods of suffering at the hands of the Nicaraguan government.
The 222 range in age from 18 to 80 and are political leaders, journalists, students, and human rights activists. They have arrived in the U.S. with only what they could carry with them, and have many basic emergency needs. These include medical care to assist with significant physical and emotional health needs, clothing and warm winter gear, transportation, housing and more. The Center for Victims of Torture will work closely with each member of The 222 who have consented to working with CVT to assess their needs, and all funds raised will be distributed as soon as possible directly to these survivors as they begin the process of healing and rebuilding their lives.
