Ways to Support Survivors of Torture in Minnesota

Your support can bring healing and solidarity. Join CVT in rejecting division and affirming dignity for all.

Your Support Matters

Survivors of torture living in Minnesota are facing extraordinary challenges—from fear and isolation to difficulty meeting basic needs like food and safety. At the Center for Victims of Torture (CVT), we work alongside survivors every day to support healing, dignity, and justice. There are many meaningful ways you can help right now—whether by meeting urgent needs, raising your voice, or standing in solidarity with our clients and communities.

Survivors have already experienced the unimaginable. Now they are witnessing the same climate of terror they fled from play out on their doorsteps. Here’s how you can support refugees and asylum seekers in Minnesota right now.

Help Provide Food and Essential Needs

Many CVT clients are currently unable to safely leave their homes due to fear, trauma, or immigration enforcement activity. To respond, CVT is coordinating emergency grocery deliveries so families can access food and essential supplies with dignity and safety. Your support helps ensure that survivors of torture and their families do not have to choose between their safety and their basic needs.

Advocating for Change

Call Your Elected Representatives

Healing for survivors of torture cannot be separated from justice and safety. Policy decisions at the local, state, and federal level directly impact our clients’ ability to access care, remain safe, and rebuild their lives. Calling your elected representatives is one of the most effective ways to advocate for policies that protect survivors, oppose harmful enforcement practices, and ensure funding for rehabilitation and support services.
