Compassion fatigue is the cost of caring and is defined as the stress response common among healthcare providers [7,10], which may considerably affect their ability to nurture [11]. The ability to nurture a significant source of work-related stress among healthcare providers was first evaluated among emergency nurses suffering burnout due to continuous exposure to distressing events and heavy workloads [11], where the variable compassion fatigue was included in the conceptual model and could be analyzed using the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL) [10,11,12].
