The Orwellian Company Behind ICE’s New Electric Shock Gloves - Mother Jones

Yumna Rizvi, senior policy analyst, is quoted in this article in Mother Jones about the direct-contact electric shock gloves being supplied to ICE agents by the federal government, at a cost of $20 million. The article describes how the gloves have been promoted to law enforcement as a “low optic” way to inflict pain and get compliance while not leaving scars, despite the human rights risks. Yumna said the gloves are “inherently abusive equipment that facilitates torture.” She further comments on use of these kinds of direct-contact tools: “It is inherently harmful. It has no legitimate law enforcement purpose.”
