Laura Kuhlmann is the director of development at the Center for Victims of Torture, where she leads the organization’s comprehensive fundraising strategy. She oversees a talented team responsible for mid- and major-gift fundraising, planned giving, institutional grants, special events and donor data systems—working to ensure the long-term sustainability of CVT’s mission to heal the wounds of torture and restore hope worldwide.
Since joining CVT in 2018, Laura has held a range of leadership roles—including head of donor engagement and major gifts officer—playing a central role in expanding donor communities, launching innovative giving programs and elevating the organization’s philanthropic partnerships.
With more than a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising, Laura began her career in Denver, Colorado, as an AmeriCorps volunteer before working with two of the city’s leading homeless service organizations, The Gathering Place and St. Francis Center. There, she developed a deep commitment to trauma-informed care and community-centered philanthropy—values that continue to guide her leadership today.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys cooking and baking, gardening, biking, and exploring Minneapolis with her spouse, two children, and their beloved chocolate Labrador.
