Lillian Lamwaka
Psychosocial Counselor , Uganda

Lamwaka Lillian is a highly dedicated Psychosocial Counselor with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Counseling and Guidance. Since joining CVT in January 2023, she has specialized in providing comprehensive psychological support to individuals and families impacted by the war and torture by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), in Uganda. Her approach prioritizes creating a safe and therapeutic environment where clients can process their traumatic and/or other experiences, build resilience, foster hope, and achieve healing through both individual and group therapy.

A significant part of her work involves Therapeutic Documentation (TD), where she uses trauma-informed practices to assist mothers of children born in captivity and the children themselves in documenting their experiences from the war. Through empathetic interviews and creative documentation methods, including art and drawing, she fosters healing, justice and collaborates with implementing partners to ensure comprehensive support.

Lillian’s extensive experience spans from working with South Sudanese refugees in the settlement of Bidibidi  with organizations, including Médicins Sans Frontières (MSF), Médicins du Monde (MdM), Action Against Hunger and Straight Talk Foundation, where she served as a Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, addressing critical issues such as nutrition, sexual education, and psychosocial wellbeing in marginalized populations.

Outside her professional responsibilities, Lillian enjoys networking, traveling, and expressing her creativity through cooking.
