Liyam Eloul serves as the senior advisor for staff wellbeing at the Center for Victims of Torture. Ms. Eloul is a psychologist and collective care specialist with 18 years experience supporting wellbeing and resilience programming for civil society organizations and communities resisting oppression and navigating conflict across the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. Prior to joining CVT in 2014, she helped to pilot psychosocial programming with UNHCR in Syria, provided clinical services at AMERA-Egypt, was a technical consultant in South Sudan, and provided direct care in psychiatric hospitals in the U.S., Ghana and Oman. Her experience ranges from direct psychosocial practice to organizational and community-level capacity development in trauma-informed care, wellbeing support and collective care programming. Her work is grounded in rights-based, healing-centered and community-led approaches. Ms. Eloul is actively engaged in the integration of mental health and psychosocial support into peacebuilding and serves as CVT’s representative to the IASC.
Liyam also serves as the lead clinician for CVT’s Trauma Informed Advisory Service, providing consultation for external organizations on staff care in contexts of chronic strain or acute stress.
