Maereg Belay
Program Monitoring & Evaluation Officer , Evaluation & Research, CVT Ethiopia

Maereg Belay is a program monitoring and evaluation officer who Joined CVT in December 2022, with more than 11 years of experience in both Humanitarian and Development nexus helping refugees, ex-combatants, migrants and needy children and youth.

Prior to joining CVT, Maereg worked for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a monitoring & evaluation (M&E) project assistant, where he was in charge of creating the M&E plan, tools, quality assurance mechanisms and data collection procedures. He was also in charge of keeping track of the day-to-day case management of reintegration assistance, updating beneficiary cases in a database for reference and updating client information on a regular basis.

Previous to his work at IOM, Maereg held positions at Plan International Ethiopia as the emergency MEAL coordinator, at PADet as the program coordinator, MEAL officer, and project coordinator, and at ANPPCAN Ethiopia as the project officer and psychosocial service provider (PSSP). Maereg has a strong background in program and project management, a wealth of monitoring and evaluation experience, and strong fundamental computer skills including relevant software.

Maereg also worked for two years with prep schools and the College of Teachers Education, where he oversaw the PSSP and taught a variety of courses. Maereg has a Master’s Degree in Project Planning and Management and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wollo University.
